As 2009 and the decade comes to a close I've found my thoughts to be of a brewing conflict between righteousness and realism. I want to be morally proper and socially sensitive but at each turn it appears that society has established it's acceptable level of each and anything less is reprehensible. Just ask Tiger Woods. The man has been condemned as a moral outcast for being unfaithful to his wife. Poor choice? Yes. Classless act? Yes. Critical behavior issue? No. Need for "rehab"? Hell No! Or Mike Leach, former coach of Texas Tech. being exiled for disciplining a spoiled brat who didn't want to work as hard as his teammates and then cries to daddy when he is told no. Mark my blog(HAHA!) this is not the last you will hear of Adam Jones, son of ESPN analyst Craig Jones! To those who enjoy the soap box they currently stand on, balance and flow always meet in the middle so beware the stones you cast!
Those who know me understand my feelings on religion but I found this passage to be quite fitting for the year 2009 and I leave you with this:
John 8
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Happy New Year and let the next decade include personal responsibility as it's theme!

wear and tear
yesterday's range session was as stated, filled with highs and lows. Last evening when arriving home I grabbed the door handle and instantly had a WTF moment! Looking down at my thumb there was a giant blister. In a flash I was in the kitchen, heating the end of a needle and released the pressure. I hope that it heals in time for the weekend as there are 3-4 rounds to be had. If it does not heal there will be plenty of tape used as a buffer!

from start to finish
OH MY! what a week layoff can do to a budding swing! first 30-35 balls were reminiscent of Tin Cup shank style! Good thing I got it figured out quickly. The last 50 or so were better, finished with a flurry of 8irons to stick at 155!! so better to finish strong on a bad day! new word of the day is TEMPO, must keep that going in addition to a good turn!! Putting in the evening here we come!!
back on the attack
I hope everyone had a great holiday! Fun times visiting with the family and catching up with some friends but it's time to get back to business. Enough ghost swings already, time to start hitting shots again. Range session at noon today, so there will be a performance report later this afternoon. Onwards and Upwards!!!

Putting?? Why can't it be easy!?!?
FINALLY, after months of procrastinating, I've setup my putting rug in my apartment. found out that a putter can indeed make a dent in the wall when it is swung against it:) I'm still having trouble keeping the putter blade online through the swing. I think some alignment exercises are definitely in order during the holidays. Its a good thing my father putts left handed so I have something to practice with while I'm visiting. I'm looking forward to continuing my evolution in this game as 2010 arrives. New goals are set, the path has been established now all that is needed is the discipline to follow it.

night and day
Sometimes you have to wonder how you can be so bad at something one day and the next day be on point. Saturday my game resembled nothing close to a golfer who has been taking lessons, completely out of sync both mentally and physically. Then Sunday I was able to recover to appear as though I had some idea how to swing a club. The positive from the weekend is it ended strong with the swing starting to feel more natural and not forced. Range time each day this week before the holidays and keeping the focus not on the ball but on the swing and keeping to the lessons at hand!

staying the course
Knowing you can do something and applying that knowledge are completely different. I learned a bit of that today as my round of golf progressed. The good that came out of my round today was that it got better as I went along, the bad was that I started poorly. making poor swings, not focusing, allowing my temperament to get the best of me instead of being able to calmly review each poor shot to find out what the mistake was. A new learning curve has begun with the mental game, analyze and recognize at a quicker pace.
Of course waking up at 5:30am on a Saturday has a way of messing with ones mental outlook. :) The better the golfer the better the excuse;)

holiday chaos!
It is rather tough to focus during this time of year. With the travel, the shopping, and the planning, who can focus? oh yea, those who are DEDICATED! Saying that, I feel at this moment I'm 75% dedicated. My new years resolution will be to maintain 100% focus on my goal and stay true to the process. Right now my swing is really at a turning point. I'm hitting more solid shots and the ball flight has been more consistent. As I continue to focus on swing plane and weight shift it is imperative that I push forward and take on new studies and keep pushing my game forward. Welcome to the BLOG!
